At just over 12k CEL, DPF 100%, reduced power. Took it to the dealer, they did a manual regen and cleared the codes. My truck has done a regen about every 100 to 120 miles (3-5 days), 10 regens since July 9th. 13.5k on the clock now. They wont touch/replace the sensor (other work related) without a TSB/Recall.
That will clean them out. If you can rig up a pressure washer that can produce steam and make fittings to keep the pressure high enough then you may be able to do it. However if you harm the DPF you are out at least $2100-3000 versus a few hundred from a place that cleans them everyday as part of their business. Save.
Good luck actually getting a solid answer on that. I chewed 2 turbos, 3 ECMs plus reflashes, O2 computer, O2s, cat, dpf, anything and everything that would be part of a regen or what trigger one and my truck would not regen. Ultimately they put my truck on a supposed constant regen. Truck ran like Azz and was getting a whopping 9mpg unloaded.
DPF regeneration refers to the procedure of cleaning and emptying the diesel particulate filter of soot that is created by the process of combustion. Burning off the soot particles requires heating the diesel particulate filter to a very high temperature.
Here, a manual regen is the way to go. An ASH LOADED DPF is when the filter has reached it's capacity to hold the residual ash left over from regeneration. Here again, removing the filter and blowing it out with shop air simply is not effective. DPF ash cleaning is a process that involves baking the substrate and pulsing it with air.
Manually starting an active DPF regen cycle (not an emergency DPF regeneration) Shown below is the procedure to manually start an active DPF regeneration. This is not required under normal circumstances. Use VCDS to enter the engine module as shown earlier. Click on "Security Access" and enter the security code 12233.
This should be mandatory on every diesel truck. Its easy to manage, too. Turn off auto-regen until the filter says 70%+ and then find a time when you'll be on the highway for 15 min and turn auto regen on. Having it go into regen two minutes from the garage is LAME! Sep 23, 2022.
Types of regeneration. What are the technical options available to regenerate the DPF filter? Passive regeneration. During suitable driving conditions, the exit exhaust gas temperature will reach up to 500ºC. This will burn off low and moderate soot deposits without any internal or external stimulus. Active regeneration
